Melbourne Cricket Ground is the largest stadium in Australia and has occupied its current site ince 1853. It hosts a number of teams and sports including, Hawthorn FC, Richmond FC, Collingwood FC, Melbourne FC and the Victorian Bushrangers state cricket team. Sports played at the stadium include Cricket, Aussie Rules Football(Australian Version of Gaelic Football), Football, Rugby Union and Rugby League.

The record attendance at the Melbourne cricket ground was 121,696 for the 1970 VFL Aussie Rules grand final between Carlton and Collingwood

The stadium has also played host to footbal matches of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, was the main stadium for both the 1956 Olympic Games and 2006 Commonwealth gamesin Melbourne and the final of the 1992 Cricket World Cup
