The Crystal Palace Sports Centre is home to UK track and field sports. The normal capacity of Crystal Palace is 16,000 but it can be increased to 22,000 if needed for larger events. Crystal Palace was formally a football stadium and was used to host a number of early FA Cup finals before the completion of Wembley National Stadium. The Stadium which was built in 1894 was upgraded to become the National Sports Centre for track and field events in 1964 when it had Europes first Synthetic track installed. When the London Olympic Stadium is completed in 2012 the stadium will be dispanded as National Sports Centre; this will be moved to Stratford, London Crystal Palace Stadium
