Selhurst Park was built in 1922 on the site of a former brickfield. It was officially opened in 1924 with a capacity of 25,000. The first game played at Selhurst Park was against Sheffield Wednesday.
Selhurst Park has been home to two teams on a couple of occasions, such as in 1986 when Charlton were forced out of the Valley and Wimbledon moved in in 1991 to 2003. The record attendance at Selhurst Park was 51,482 vs Burnley in 1979, the year Crystal Palace clinched the old Division 2 (now Championship) title. selhurst park
