A watershed in the history of football on Montserrat occurred on Tuesday 2 April, 2002 when The Monserrat Football Association Complex was officialy inaugurated.With the inauguration it allowed Montserrats National football team able to play home fixtures.Before this they had to play away because the previous facilities were damaged when the Soufriere Volcano errupted.
