Oppenheimer Stadium is located in the mining town of Orkney, on the River Vaal, 180 km from Johannesburg.The stadium was opened in 1975 and currently has the capacity for 23,000, but will undergo some major renovations in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.The stadium is currently surrounded by a athletics track but it will be removed to allow for more seating to be installed.On completion planned to be August 2007 the capacity will increase to 40,000.
